How do composers convey the concept of journey in their texts?

Synthesis

In both 'The Truman Show' and 'The Maze Runner', the concept of journey has been clearly defined in both texts. Both texts convey physical and inner journeys by the characters, this also allows the audience to experience their own imaginative journey with the characters. Through explaining how the characters have overcome difficult obstacles and grown as individuals, physically and emotionally.

The main characters within the movie and text, 'The Truman Show' and 'The Maze Runner', are all shown to be under control by a governing body. In 'The Truman Show' this controlling figure is Christof, the creater and director of the show, and in 'The Maze Runner' is it W.I.C.K.E.D, the organisation in charge of trying to find the cure to the deadly virus, the Flare.

Both texts clearly express physical journeys. This is done by both plot lines for the texts are similar in the way that the main characters have to escape from something or someone. In 'The Truman Show', Truman's physical journey is demonstrated by him having to sail across the 'ocean' in the search for other land or an exit. On the other hand, in 'The Maze Runner', Thomas and the gladers begin their physical journey by escaping the maze. Although, both texts convey examples of obstacles in which they have to persevere.
